Second terminal at Jaipur International Airport to be operational in October

Jaipur: The new terminal built over 11500 square metres at Jaipur International Airport will be operational from October 25. This will reduce the passenger load at the existing terminal, officials said. While Terminal – 1 will be used for international flights, Terminal – 2 will be for domestic flights.
Jaipur airport used to have two terminal buildings until July 2013. On July 16, 2013, flight operation at Terminal – 1 was suspended and the international flights were shifted to Terminal – 2. As both international, as well as domestic flights, were being operated from Terminal – 2, it increased passenger load over the past few years.
The Airport Authority of India has spent Rs 67 crore to build the new Terminal – 1. The airport administration has earmarked it for international flights. Seven international flights were operating from Jaipur airport before the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, six international flights are operating from here including two to Dubai, and 1 each to Sharjah, Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Bangkok. For the security of the new terminal, the CISF has sent a proposal of deputing additional 200 security personnel. There are currently 600 security personnel at Jaipur Airport. It will increase to 800 if the proposal is accepted. The Adani Group has already started setting up a shopping area in the new terminal.
The Terminal – 1 building features a 2-storey building with an arrival lounge on the ground floor and offices on the first floor. The arrival area will have four custom counters and the departure area two custom counters. There will be eight immigration counters at the arrival area, and 8 in the departure area.
