Second phase of Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra to now begin in Jodhpur from Aug 24

While BJP leaders argued that the yatra got rescheduled due to the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, sources said the party was not willing to take out the tour in Bharatpur as Gurjar have warned of an agitation. They had in fact blocked a national highway passing through Sawai Madhopur for more than 21 hours to prevent chief minister Raje from reaching Bharatpur.

Jaipur: The second phase of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra will begin in Jodhpur division from August 24. The second phase was earlier scheduled to be held in Bharatpur division on August 16.

While BJP leaders argued that it got rescheduled due to the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, sources said the party was not willing to take out the tour in Bharatpur as Gurjar have warned of an agitation. They had in fact blocked a national highway passing through Sawai Madhopur for more than 21 hours to prevent chief minister Raje from reaching Bharatpur.

BJP state president Madan Lal Saini said on Saturday that the second phase of the Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra will now start from Tanot Mata Temple in Jodhpur division on August 24. The tour won’t be taken out on on August 26 when the state will celebrate Raksha Bandhan festival. The tour in Bharatpur division has been postponed for now and the dates will be announced later.

CM Vasundhara Raje has to postpone Gaurav Yatra as she had to leave for Delhi to visit Vajpayee in Delhi on August 16.

BJP state president Saini had informed about the suspension of the Gaurav yatra tour scheduled in Sawaimadhopur on the same day. All the preparations of the tour were completed but the sudden news of Vajpayee’s critical health led to its suspension as the CM Raje had to go to AIIMS Delhi in the morning, added Saini. Sources however said that the party is avoiding Bharatpur and Sawaimadhopur due to the ongoing Gurjar agitation.

The first phase of the Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra was recently completed in Udaipur division. The tour flagged off by BJP national president Amit Shah started from Charbhujanath Temple in Rajsamand district on August 4. The tour was supposed to conclude in Ajmer on September 30. The Yatra was interrupted due to Atal Bihar Vajpayee’s critical condition.
