Jaipur: The crisis in the Congress party in Rajasthan has taken a new turn with the Sachin Pilot camp filing a petition in the Rajasthan high court against the disqualification notice issued against the sacked Deputy Chief Minister and 18 MLAs for not attending the legislative party meeting. The Assembly Speaker.

A whip had been issued for Sachin Pilot and 18 MLAs for ignoring the whip requiring them to attempt the meeting. The petition will come up for hearing in the high court on Friday.

The petition came up for hearing before the bench of Chief Justice Indrajeet Singh.

The Legislative Party meeting had been called after the dissidence expressed by Pilot and his supporters. Amid speculations that Pilot could join the BJP, the Legislative Party meeting was called by the Congress. However, Sachin Pilot and his supporters refused to attend the meeting. The meeting was called again the next day, but no legislator from the Pilot camp attended. Terming it a violation of party whip, the Speaker issued a disqualification notice, pushing Pilot deeper into trouble as he had already been sacked as the deputy CM and Pradesh Congress Committee Chief. The notice required Pilot and other MLAs to submit their response by July 17.

The pilot camp moved the Rajasthan high court against the disqualification notice.
