RU student union election 2018: Voting underway, 10 arrested for violating model code of conduct

Jaipur: Voting for student union elections 2018 in Rajasthan began at all the universities including Rajasthan University (RU) and their constituent colleges except JNVU in Jodhpur from 8 am.
Heavy police force has been deployed at polling booths to maintain law and order. Police in Jaipur arrested 10 supporters of student leaders for violating the model code of conduct. They were found distributing pamphlets in support of certain student leaders when the students were casting their votes.
In a similar incident reported at Ajmer, four students were arrested from outside GCA College for violating the model code of conduct by indulging in promotional activities. In Udaipur, the police arrested 10 students.
Heavy police force is inspecting in the colleges around the state to ensure security during the voting for student union elections 2018.
Barcode scanners have been installed at all the polling booths of Rajasthan University to verify the ID cards of the students. Students are not being allowed to cast vote without the verification.

The voting will come to an end at 1 pm. Ninety-four polling booths have been set up at Rajasthan University and their constituent colleges.
The results of the student union elections will be declared on September 11. The polling in JNVU Jodhpur will be held on September 10.
