RU student union election 2018: police lathicharge student leaders

Student leaders and their supporters had taken shelter at one place on the campus when it was raining. Some of them started an argument and it soon turned into a fistfight. When the students didn’t stop the ruckus, the cops resorted to lathicharge.

Jaipur: Police resorted to larthicharge NSUI and ABVP student leaders when they and their supporters got into a fight in Rajasthan University (RU) on Wednesday.

They had taken shelter at one place on the campus when it was raining. Some of them started an argument and it soon turned into a fistfight. When the students didn’t stop the ruckus, the cops resorted to lathicharge.

Some student leaders including Dinesh Choudhary (ABVP) and Vinod Jhakar (NSUI rebel) were taken into police custody.

The police officials said that they would deal with indiscipline very strictly. Heavy police force has been deployed in the university ahead of the upcoming RU student union elections 2018.

The officer said that the students had taken shelter at one place. They started arguing and creating ruckus. The police used force to disperse the student leaders and their supporters.

Police arrested several students earlier for creating the ruckus and defacing property at the campus and around the city.

The election campaigning will come to an end at 5 pm today. After this, no student will be able to publicize about their unions as the Model code of conduct will come into force.

The student union elections of 2018 will take place on August 31 in Rajasthan University and other universities of the state except for JNVU. In JNVU the polling will take place on September 10 due to CM Raje’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra.
