RU student union election 2017: Model Code of Conduct comes into force
Nomination of candidates to be cancelled if an FIR is registered.

Jaipur: With the announcement of dates for Rajasthan University (RU) student union election 2017, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force. The election notification will be issued in the university on August 21.
The university administration has made it clear that in cases of violation of Lyngdoh Committee guidelines or the Model Code of Conduct, strict action will be taken against the violators. Nearly 26,000 student will likely participate in the election process that will take place from August 22 to August 28.

RU administration has appointed professor Vijayveer Singh as the chief election officer for the student union election. Committees are being constituted.
As per the guidelines, candidates will have to seek permission from the university or the concerned college before opening offices to run election campaigning related activities.
The maximum age limit for fighting the election is 25 years old.
Class representatives will also be elected along with the representatives of the university’s apex body.
First year students will be able to fight the election for post of a class representative only.
The elected president will have to inaugurate the office of student union body within a month of the election date.
For fighting for the post of the president, a candidate has to be a postgraduate student or the final year student in a four-year course. In colleges, a candidate should be a finial year undergraduate student or a postgraduate student.
The RU administration on Wednesday announced dates for student union elections. The voting will take place on August 28 and the results will be announced on the same day.
The entire election process will be completed within eight days. The decision to conduct elections in the minimum possible time was taken to reduce the chances of ruckus created by students during elections and to ensure that classes are not affected.
