Jaipur:  NSUI has also announced its panel of candidates for Rajasthan University (RU) student union elections 2018. Ranveer Singhania has been appointed as NSUI candidate for the president post. He will be pitted against ABVP candidate Rajpal Choudhary.

NSUI has nominated Chetan Kumar Yadav for the post of general secretary and Sonam Gurjar for the post of vice president.

ABVP had announced its panel earlier in the day. ABVP has nominated Rajpal Choudhary as their candidate for the president’s posts in Rajasthan University elections. Anuradha Meena has been nominated for vice president post, Dinesh Choudhary (Gared) for general secretary and Meenal Sharma for joint secretary. Now all eyes are on NSUI as the students are curious to know which candidates will make it to its panel.

ABVP and NSUI had been dominating the elections for several years, but the unions won’t like to take any chances this time as independent candidates have grabbed the president post at RU over the past two years. NSUI won the elections in 2014 and 2015.

In the past few years, the caste equation of NSUI has failed to click. This time, the union has made decisions on the basis of the power demonstrations done in the campus by student leaders.

Both the student organization ABVP and NSUI will need to go the extra mile to ensure victory in the students’ election. A direct involvement of senior BJP and Congress leaders is also expected.

Heavy police force has been deployed in the university amid reports that disgruntled candidates can create a ruckus.

The current panel of Rajasthan university is President Pawan Yadav, Vice- President Mahima Choudhary, General secretary Manvendra Budhania and Joint secretary Manisha Meena.

The elected president will have to inaugurate the office of student union body within a month of the election date. For fighting for the post of the president, a candidate has to be a postgraduate student or the final year student in a four-year course.

The student union elections of 2018 will take place on August 31 in Rajasthan University and other universities of the state except for JNVU. In JNVU the polling will take place on September 10 due to CM Raje’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra.
