Jaipur: ABVP has announced its panel for RU student union election 2018. ABVP has nominated Rajpal Choudhary as their candidate for the president’s posts in Rajasthan University elections. Anuradha Meena has been nominated for vice president post, Dinesh Choudhary (Gared) for general secretary and Meenal Sharma for joint secretary. Now all eyes are on NSUI as the students are curious to know which candidates will make it to its panel.

ABVP has played a caste card by nominating a Jat candidate for the top post. ABVP is looking to get support of OBC students who make up a major chunk of the voters in the university.

Sources said that some candidates were disgruntled over the nomination of Rajpal Choudhary. ABVP was not able to decide between Rajpal Choudhary and Dinesh Girad as both of them were the strong candidates for the President’s post.

Heavy police force has been deployed in the university amid reports that disgruntled candidates can create a ruckus.
ABVP has not won the presidential post of Rajasthan University after the formation of the BJP government in Rajasthan 2013, while NSUI won in 2014 and 2015. Last year ABVP’s rebel candidate Pawan Yadav emerged victorious. Independent candidates have been winning for the last two years.

Rajasthan University has geared up the election process and started distributing gate passes to the students, so that no outsider will be allowed in the premises. The anti-defection campaign has also been launched by the JMC and the model code of conduct has come into force.

The elected president will have to inaugurate the office of student union body within a month of the election date. For fighting for the post of the president, a candidate has to be a postgraduate student or the final year student in a four-year course.

The student union elections of 2018 will take place on August 31 in Rajasthan University and other universities of the state except for JNVU. In JNVU the polling will take place on September 10 due to CM Raje’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra.
