RTO: VIP vehicle registration number price to be increased

Jaipur: Buying VIP registration numbers for your car or bike is going to get a costlier now. The government is planning to increase the price of VIP numbers by almost six times. RTO had sent a proposal to the Rajasthan transport department in this regard. The proposal is under consideration at the finance department currently and sources said that the increase in VIP numbers is almost certain.
For example, the VIP number – 0001 – was earlier priced at Rs 1 lakh. After the increase the price will go up to Rs 6 lakh. This is the base price for this number. If there is more than one buyer, the number will be auctioned. The number will be sold to the highest bidder.
“There has been a lot of demand for VIP car registration numbers, so we have decided to increase the base price for these numbers. It will boost the transport department’s revenue. The auction process will still be in place,” said a senior RTO officer.
Besides, only a few series of numbers are categorized as VIP numbers currently, but more numbers will be included in this category.
In the current series , VIP numbers such as 0001, 0003, 0005, 0007, 0009, 0011, 0786 will cost you Rs 1 lakh. If you apply for the same registration numbers in the future series, the price will increase. In the next series, you will pay Rs 2 lakh. In the third series, the price will be Rs 3 lakh. In the fourth series, the price will be Rs 4 lakh and in the fifth next series, the price will be Rs 5 lakh. In the sixth next series, the price will be Rs 6 lakh.
The base price for VIP numbers such as 0002, 0004, 0006, 0008, 0010 and numbers like 555, 777 and 999 will be priced at Rs 50,000.
The price will increase by Rs 50,000 based on which series of number you want to buy.
