Heroin smugglers arrested by security agencies in Sri Ganganagar on Indo-Pak border.

Security agencies in Rajasthan have intercepted a major cross-border drug smuggling attempt after nearly 4.88 kg of heroin, valued at approximately Rs. 20 crore, was recovered near the India–Pakistan border in Sri Ganganagar district. The contraband was allegedly delivered from Pakistan using a drone on New Year’s night.

The operation was uncovered by the Rawla police station team, which arrested three men who were allegedly transporting the heroin after it was dropped near the border.

According to police officials, the heroin consignment was sent across the international border from Pakistan using a drone. The drone reportedly crashed at the drop location after releasing the packets.

On the night of January 1, a Rawla police team was on routine patrol when officers noticed three young men behaving suspiciously near the canal close to the 15 KND culvert area. The men were carrying a plastic bag and attempted to flee upon spotting the police vehicle. The team immediately cordoned off the area and detained all three suspects on the spot.

A search conducted by the police led to the recovery of 4.88 kg of heroin packed in three separate packets, along with a DJI drone believed to have been used for cross-border delivery.

The individual recoveries, as per police records, are as follows:

  • 1,019 grams of heroin from Jagandeep Singh
  • 2,048 grams from Neetu Singh
  • 1,021 grams from Satpal Singh

The drone was recovered from a plastic bag carried by one of the accused.

The arrested accused have been identified as:

  • Jagandeep Singh alias Labbu Singh (26), resident of Chak 10 K, Anupgarh
  • Neetu Singh alias Ravneet Singh (21), resident of Dabli Rathan, Hanumangarh
  • Satpal Singh (27), resident of Chak 04 STR, Ghadsana

All three have been booked under the NDPS Act.

The seizure was officially disclosed during a press conference held at Ghadsana police station by Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan. She confirmed that the heroin was smuggled from Pakistan using a drone and said further investigation is underway to identify the wider smuggling network and cross-border handlers.

Following the recovery, police teams, along with the Border Security Force, have launched intensive search operations in nearby fields, canal routes, and suspected transit points to rule out the possibility of additional consignments.
