JAIPUR: Income Tax (IT) officials are investigating lockers at Ganpati Plaza in Jaipur after allegations by Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena. One locker revealed Rs 2.46 crore, all in Rs 500 notes. More money is suspected in other lockers.

Earlier on Tuesday, three lockers were opened, yielding 1.25 crore rupees and 1 kg of gold. Two more lockers checked on Saturday contained property documents, helping officials trace locker owners. Another locker had around Rs 2.5 crore cash.

Some lockers lack valid owner details. IT officials face challenges with lockers registered to non-existent names or addresses where nobody lives. Officials will continue investigations until all locker owners present themselves.

Ganpati Plaza has 1,100 underground lockers. An anonymous IT officer shared that people often register lockers under servants’ names, later dismiss them, and use these lockers. If questioned, these individuals deny knowledge.
