Rohit Godara gang demands Rs 5 crore from BJP leader in Jaipur, invokes Gogamedi killing in threat

Jaipur: The Rohit Godara gang has allegedly demanded Rs 5 crore in extortion from a BJP leader in Jaipur, threatening to kill him and his family and warning that he would meet the same fate as slain Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi.

Vijay Singh Palada, a BJP state executive committee member and district vice-president of Nagaur (Dehat), filed a report at the Banipark police station on Sunday evening. Palada, a resident of Gheeya Marg in Banipark, told police that gangster Naveen Boxer, an associate of the Rohit Godara gang, sent him four voice notes and made nine WhatsApp calls from an international mobile number on 12 April.

When Palada did not answer the calls, Naveen Boxer allegedly sent voice notes demanding Rs 5 crore and threatening to kill Palada and his family. According to the complaint, the gangster warned that he would be riddled with bullets, and invoked the killing of Gogamedi, saying Palada would suffer a similar fate. The caller, who claimed to be from Haryana, also allegedly taunted that approaching ministers or MLAs for help would be futile, and dismissed his security detail as ineffective.

Palada told police this was not the first such threat. He said members of the Rohit Godara gang, the Virendra Charan gang, and one Rahul Fatehpur had issued threats on 13, 14, and 16 February. On 22 March, a separate extortion demand of Rs 5 crore was allegedly made in the name of Virendra Charan, accompanied by threats to kill Palada and his family if the money was not paid.

Police said they have registered the complaint at the Banipark police station and are investigating the matter.
