Robbers murder woman, chop off her legs to rob jewellery in Jaipur

Jaipur: Unidentified robbers murdered a woman and chopped off her legs to rob her silver anklets and other jewellery items in Jamwaramgarh area of Jaipur on Tuesday. The police found injury marks on her neck. Police said that prima-facie it seems the robbers killed the woman to rob her. Further investigation is going on.

The 55-year-old woman, identified as Geeta Devi, had left home around 10 am for an agriculture farm to graze the cattle. She didn’t return home. Some villagers saw her body lying near the farm around 1 pm and informed the family members. Her husband, Ramgopal Sharma, and others rushed to the sot. They were shocked by the gruesomeness as the chopped-off legs of the woman were lying near her body.

A team from Jamwaramgarh police station reached the spot after getting the information about the murder from the villagers. The police suspect the murder took place around noon. The robbers first attacked Geeta Devi on her neck with a sharp-edge weapon such as axe and then chopped off her legs.

She was wearing a gold necklace and earrings, the family members said. The police suspect the legs were chopped off as the robbers couldn’t remove the silver anklets.

The body has been handed over to the family members after a postmortem examination. A forensic examination of the murder spot was also conducted.
