Road accident in Hanumangarh: 6 killed as truck collides with jeep

Jaipur: At least six people including two children were killed when the jeep they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck in Rawatsar area of Hanumangarh district on Friday. The victims included a couple and a mother-son duo. The victims were relatives, the police said adding that they were returning home after attending a religious function. A 9-year-old girl was the only survivor in the tragic road accident.
The mishap occurred near Poorabsar bus stand in the morning. “The victims had attended a religious event in Poorabsar and were returning to their village in Mayala Dhani. The jeep driver was driving towards the Hanumangarh- Kishangarh highway from a link road when the vehicle was hit by a truck. The jeep was severely damaged,” said a police officer.
The passers-by and local residents informed the police control room following which a police team rushed to the spot. The bodies had got stuck in the jeep. A rescue operation was launched and the bodies were pulled out. They were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared six of them dead. The girl who survived was admitted to a hospital.
The police have launched an investigation to determine what caused the mishap.
