This will come as a relief to the lakhs of people living in multi-storey buildings in Jaipur as they currently struggle to get water connections and many of them have to rely on private suppliers for drinking water.
“The department is currently working on revising the existing policy and fixing its loopholes. We will soon announce this policy so that the apartment dwellers can easily get water connections,” Mahesh Joshi said. He was speaking to media persons while inaugurating Pink Division in the city. It’s an initiative at the divisional headquarters level in the state in which women officials will be deputed so that women consumers can confidently have their water supply-related grievances resolved confidently.
ACS Subodh Agarwal, Chairperson of Social Welfare Board Archana Sharma, Chairman of Small Industries Development Corporation Rajiv Arora and XEN Nisha Sharma were also present on this occasion. All the Chief Engineers and other officers of the department attended the function.
Joshi said that in a step towards women empowerment, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced setting up a Pink Division at each divisional headquarter in the state. The Chief Minister has waived water charges up to 15,000 litres of drinking water as well as interest and penalty on payment of water bills.
State Social Welfare Board President Archana Sharma said that the separate division of women is a noble effort to reward their labour, skill, devotion to duty and loyalty. In order to solve the problems of the common man, the engineers of the water supply department will get full cooperation from the public representatives.
