RCA elections 2019: Vaibhav Gehlot meets CP Joshi

Jaipur: Shortly after being elected unopposed as the treasurer of Rajsamand District Cricket Association, Vaibhav Gehlot, son of chief minister Ashok Gehlot met current RCA president and assembly speaker CP Joshi on Wednesday. Sources said that the meeting was in the wake of reports that Vaibhav Gehlot will fight the elections for the presidential post in Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).

CP Joshi holds sway in cricket associations of 16 districts. It is believed the votes from these districts will go to Vaibhav Gehlot and this will ensure his victory in the elections. The votes from some other districts may also fall in his lap as they were cast on party lines. The secretaries the majority of the district association has affiliations with the Congress party.

The RCA elections will be held  by September 28. Registrar Neeraj K Pawan declared the name of the election offer. RS Nandu appointed TS Krishnamurti as the election officer.

The BCCI had given recognition to RCA constitution on September 6. The suspension was also lifted by the apex cricket body on the same day.

The ban on the RCA was imposed by the BCCI in 2014. The RCA has been trying to get the ban lifted for the past five years. When CP Joshi was elected the president of RCA, he said that his first priority would be to get the ban lifted.
