Jaipur: Vaibhav Gehlot – son of chief minister Ashok Gehlot – is all set to become the president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).

The voter list released late on Monday night has brightened up his prospects of winning the RCA elections 2019.While RCA election officer RR Rashmi has approved his recent appointment as the treasurer of Rajsamand district association – making him eligible to contest, the voter list has dealt a blow to other factions of the RCA.

Nagaur District Cricket Association has been disaffiliated for voting, so Rameshwar Lal Dudi won’t be eligible to fight the election. Dudi was elected the president of the district association recently, causing speculations that he might fight the election. At the same time, two other district association – Alwar and Sriganganagar – have been disqualified, so Ruchir Modi who is the president of Alwar district association – is not eligible to contest.

These three district associations had been suspended by the RCA, but Dudi fraction had termed the suspension as unlawful. The CJ Joshi faction objected to it.

With the disqualification of three district associations, only 30 district associations will be able to vote in the RCA elections. Two votes representing the players and one each from 30 associations will cast their votes in the elections, so a total of 32 votes will decide the fate of the RCA.

Going by the current situation, Vaibhav Gehlot might be elected president. Mahendra Sharma is a strong candidate for the post of secretary. The nominations process will be completed by Wednesday.
