Rare emeralds on display at JAS’19

Jaipur: The 13th edition of jewelry show – JAS’19 – at Jaipur Exhibition Convention Centre (JECC) near Sitapura in Jaipur kicked off on Saturday. The biggest attraction is rare emeralds that are on display at over 50 stalls in the exhibition.
The jewellers said that precious emeralds are imported to Jaipur from 10 different countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Columbia and Zambia.
“The demand for emeralds has gone up in India over the past few years. It has boosted the gems and jewellery business in Jaipur too,” said a jeweller.
He added that people can easily have the quality of emeralds tested. “There is a lab in Jaipur now. Jewellers and people can have the quality of the emerald tested for just Rs 11,00,” he said.
The four-day long event will conclude on April 9. The theme of this time’s edition is ‘Real is Rare’, said Jewellers association officials.
The administration of Jaipur Jewellery Association including convener Ramsharan Gupta with other officials have invested CM Ashok Gehlot and former CM Vasundhara Raje. They are likely to attend the exhibition.
President of Jewellers association Sanjay Kala said that the first day of the event will be completely dedicated to the traders. The theme of the show is ‘Real is Rare’. It will showcase the power of gems and their real effect. A large number of traders from India and abroad will be part of the event.
The four-day-long show will bring together manufacturers, retailers, designers, artisans, wholesalers, and buyers from across the globe to create a unique business environment. It will offer jewellers an opportunity to have in-depth discussions with India’s best manufacturers and to meet many new suppliers in the gems and jeweller industry.
