As a WhatsApp chat between the SHO and his acquaintance went viral on social media, people started demonstrating alleging that the officer was under depressions due to ‘dirty politics’.
The SHO in the alleged chat with his acquaintance stated that he was tired of ‘dirty politics’. Two suicide notes were recovered.
No one has been identified and implicated in the suicide note. According to preliminary reports, he didn’t hold anyone responsible for taking the extreme step and sought an apology from his father for ending his own life.
“I tried to give my best as a police officer. I was not a coward, but I just couldn’t bear the stress. Nobody should be harassed,” Vishnudutt Vishnoi wrote in his suicide note.
Rajasthan DGP has ordered a probe into the alleged suicide. He directed IG Jose Mohan to start an investigation into the incident. Bikaner range IG Jose Mohan and Churu SP Tejaswani Gautam were among several senior police officials who visited Rajgarh. The body was taken to a local hospital for postmortem examination. A forensic examination of the room where the SHO committed suicide was conducted.
In the WhatsApp chat with an alleged social activist, Vishnudutt expressed his desire to take voluntary retirement from service (VRS) as “efforts were being made to trap him in dirty politics”.
The people demanded a CBI probe into the matter. BJP leader of the region Rajendra Rathore said that Vishudutt was an honest and brave police officer and the fact that he committed suicide was very unfortunate. “It’s a slap on the face of the police department,” he told media persons. He demanded a judicial probe into the matter. The local residents gathered outside the police station and started demonstrating against a local Congress MLA.
Sources said that SHO was busy with the probe into a murder which was the fall out of a gang war. A man, identified as Rajendra Gathwal, was murdered. He was quizzing suspects in the matter and then went to his government quarters situated on the police station premises late on Friday night.
Vishnudutt had a huge following on social media. Originally hailing from Raisinghnagar in Hanumangarh, Vishnu Dutt joined police force as a sub inspector in 1997.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot expressed grief over the incident in a tweet and said that the police officer’s service to the department were commendable.
“He would be remembered for his services and commitment to duty,” said Gehlot.
