Jaipur: The convocation of Rajasthan University will be held on November 8. The University has started preparations for the mega ceremony where gold medals will be awarded to 587-semester toppers from the year 1992 to 2016. About 2.50 lakh degrees are expected to be awarded in this grand event. Vice-chancellor RK Kothari held two meetings with the staff of RU and assigned them the responsibility of organizing the ceremony. Several types of committees have also been constituted and convenors have been appointed to ensure the ceremony is conducted in the best possible manner. RU officials gave suggestions for the ceremony as well as shared their previous organizing experiences with the VC in the two meetings held by him. A separate committee was also constituted to discuss the budget of the ceremony. Earlier this month, RU’s administrative department had decided to award gold medals to all the semester system toppers. The degree certificates that will be awarded have been printed outside the state by a private firm. After the printing work was done, certificates of each semester were handed over to the administrative department. Mistakes in the degree certificates have happened in the past hence the university was very cautious and ensured that something similar did not happen this time. It published details on the website so that students and college principals could view these and give feedback if any.
