Rajasthan University announces 10% increase in UG and PG seats

The decision to expand enrollment comes following a series of student protests during this election year.

JAIPUR: Rajasthan University (RU) has announced a 10 percent increase in the seat allotment for Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) courses for the 2023-24 academic year.

Dr. Kuldeep Mishra, the University’s Deputy Registrar, issued a notification in this regard. This increase reverses a previous decision, made during a RU Syndicate meeting, to maintain the current seat capacity.

The decision to expand enrollment comes following a series of student protests during this election year.

This expansion affects affiliate colleges under Rajasthan University, including Maharani College, Maharaja College, Commerce College, and Rajasthan College. Initially, these colleges were slated to admit students to more than 6700 seats in various courses, including BA, B.Com, B.Sc pass course, Certificate course with Honors course, Diploma, BCA, BBA, BPA.

With the increase, an extra 670 seats will be available for UG courses. PG courses, originally set for 3200 seats, will now have an additional 320 seats.

Due to these adjustments, the total seats available at Rajasthan University for the 2023-24 academic year will exceed 10,000.
