Rajasthan: Teenager kills classmate for scoring better marks in exams

He murdered his friend before results of class 12 came out.

Jaipur: A class 12 student brutally murdered his classmate by slitting his throat with a sharp-edged weapon for scoring better marks in exams in Rajasthan’s Alwar. The accused teenager feared that his friend would again fare better then him in the 12th class examinations. Before results were announced, he killed his competition.

The murder took place in Manethi Jalawas village near Shahjanhapur in Alwar district on Sunday. The accused was detained on Wednesday. His identity was withheld as he is a minor.

On Sunday, police received the information that the body of a student Rohit Kumar was lying on the roadside. A police team was immediately rushed to the spot.

“The student was alive, but succumbed on his way to his hospital. His throat had been slit and he died of excessive bleeding,” a police officer said.

The police studies footages of CCTVs installed in the area. The footages showed a teenager leaving the area where Rahul’s body was found on a motorcycle.

“We identified the boy and detained. He confessed to the crime,” said the officer.

Rohit and the teenager held for the crime.

The officer said that Rohit had scored better marks than his friend in class 10 and class 11.

“His parents scolded him as Rohit was a brighter student. He decided to take revenge. The results of the exam were to be announced on May 15. He killed Rohit before they came out,” said the officer.
