Rajasthan Roadways buses to be equipped with vehicle location tracking devices soon
Last Updated:
Jaipur: The transport department is all set to implement the Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) system on a large scale in the state.
Approval for this has also been issued at the departmental level. Rajasthan roadways buses will be the first type of government vehicles to be equipped with these devices. After the device is installed in buses in the first phase, it will be installed in other vehicles in the second phase. Although, the central government had given orders for installing VLTD system three years ago, it could not be implemented in Rajasthan. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they were installed only in ambulances.
Real time tracking of buses will be done with VLTD system. The department is also preparing to collect fine from the staff of the buses that deviate from pre-determined routes. In fact, there are often complaints of buses running on wrong routes. A senior transport department officer said that overspeeding will also be curbed. The speed of the vehicle can be detected by this system. The system will have a GPS as well as a panic button.
For the monitoring of vehicles, the Transport Department had installed real-time location trackers in ambulances during the Corona period. For this the department took the help of the police server. ASI-140 standard location trackers were installed in the ambulances.
Wherever the vehicle is moving in the country, its location can be traced with the VLTD system. Vehicle speed will also be detected in real time. The driver will receive a notification or warning whenever his vehicle is overspeeding. The system will also help to put a check on vehicle thefts.
