Jaipur: Rajasthan Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has sent a proposal to the state government seeking permission to make RERA registration mandatory for property dealers. The RERA registration till now is mandatory for only builders and developers when they launch a new real estate project. The move has been mooted to bring more transparency and professionalism in the sector.

The property dealers will be required to have their RERA registration number printed on their visiting cards. The state government may bring in a law to make RERA registration for property dealers mandatory.

Property dealers operate without any kind of licensing requirements in Rajasthan. It leads to cases of fraud with property buyers and sellers.

“Property dealers are currently working without RERA registration. Once this becomes mandatory, they will have to follow professional standards and transparency because they will lose their registration and won’t be able to operate as property dealers if RERA receives a lot of complaint against them,” said a RERA officer.

The officer added that RERA will take legal action against property dealers who operate without registration.

The officials said that there should be awareness among property buyers and sellers too. They should work with only RERA-registered property dealers.
