Jaipur: Rajasthan’s Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) on Wednesday completed seven years since it was set up to bring order and transparency to the real estate market.
Formed under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, the Authority started functioning in the state in 2017. Since then, it has emerged as a strong watchdog over real estate activity.
On this occasion, Urban Development and Housing (UDH) Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra inaugurated the newly revamped RERA website at Constitution Club on Wednesday. The upgraded digital portal aims to offer improved access to project data, faster complaint tracking, and greater transparency for homebuyers and developers.
In its seven-year journey, Rajasthan RERA has registered 3,245 projects. These include residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. In addition, 2,072 real estate agents have also been brought under its regulatory net.
One of the biggest achievements has been grievance redressal. The Authority has resolved 4,471 complaints from homebuyers. Officials said more than 90% of these were disposed of efficiently. Over 700 orders were enforced with the help of district collectors.
The total amount recovered from developers through recovery certificates stands close to ₹100 crore. These actions have earned RERA a reputation for strict enforcement.
Officials said the Authority’s online portal has made it easier for buyers to access project details, agent information, and legal orders. The portal is seen as a key step toward transparency.
“Buyers have more trust now. Developers are also more cautious and responsible,” a senior RERA official said.
The Authority’s functioning has had a wider impact. Many developers are voluntarily registering even incomplete projects. This has widened the coverage of regulation.
The Authority is also focusing on technology. Plans are underway to introduce alerts for project deadlines and non-compliance. Officials are working on stricter tracking of quarterly updates and reports from developers.
With its eighth year underway, Rajasthan RERA has signalled that it will continue to focus on protecting homebuyers and ensuring discipline in the sector.
