Rajasthan reports 62 new Covid-19 cases in a day

Jaipur: Rajasthan reported 62 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday. Of them, 46 cases were reported in Jaipur alone. This is the highest number of cases in the capital city since June 19.
Apart from Jaipur, cases were reported in some other districts including Udaipur (4), Bikaner (3), Sriganganagar (3), Ajmer (2) and Pratapgarh (2). One case each was reported in Sikar and Jodhpur.
Jaipur was reporting nearly 15 cases on a daily basis on average. The number of cases has tripled in 24 hours. It has become a cause of concern for the government. The samples collected from the infected people have been sent to a Pune lab for genome sequencing to determine if the people were infected with the Omicron coronavirus variant.
In Jaipur, only one case was reported in the rural area of Bagru. The remaining 45 cases are from Jaipur city limits. Five cases were reported in Sodala, six in Vaishali Nagar, 4 in Muralipura, 2 in Gurjar Ki Thadi. Three cases each were reported in Ajmer Road area, C-Scheme, Malviya Nagar and Mansarovar, 1 each in Banipark, Civil Lines, Durgapura, Jagatpura, Jawahar Nagar, Jhotwara, Mahesh Nagar, Subhash Chowk, Vidhyadhar Nagar and Gangapole.
The number of active patients in the state has now gone up to 318.
The Rajasthan government had recently received a report from the Pune lab, confirming that 21 people were infected with the Omicron variant. The Rajasthan government is planning to make vaccination mandatory.
