Walled City markets being sanitized as Jaipur reports 3101 cases
Jaipur: Covid-19 continues to spread at an alarming rate in Rajasthan. The state recorded 14,622 new positive cases on Wednesday, according to a government medical bulletin. Jaipur alone reported 3101 cases.
The virus claimed 62 more lives. This is the highest number of cases and casualties recorded in 24 hours during the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The number of positive cases was even more than Madhya Pradesh. The neighboring state reported 13,107 cases.
The Rajasthan government has directed all the private hospitals to reserve 50% of the beds for Covid-19 patients as the government hospitals with a capacity of 100 or more beds are under strain to accommodate daily hospitalization requests. The hospitals that have a capacity of fewer than 100 beds need to reserve 40% of them.
The Rajasthan government has also written to the central government asking for an increase in the Oxygen quota.
The number of active cases has gone up to 96,366 and are likely to cross 1 lakh. The number of active cases has almost doubled in just a week.
In Jaipur, five people died of virus infection. Jodhpur recorded 1523 cases and 18 deaths. In Kota, 1121 people tested positive for the virus, while 1101 in Udaipur. In Sirohi, Bikaner, Bhilwara, and Alwar, the number of positive cases was more than 500.
