Jaipur: Rajsathan police headquarters (PHQ) has launched a WhatsApp mobile number for registering complaints. The WhatsApp helpline number is 8764871150.

The people in Jaipur and across Rajasthan have been advised to use the WhatsApp helpline number of Rajasthan police if the local police station didn’t register their complaints and lodge FIRs. The step has been taken to bring in more transparency in the functioning of the local police stations and to ensure that people don’t have to run from pillar to post to get their FIR registered.

The helpline number will particularly deal with cases of inter-caste marriages and relationships. Couples in the state, particularly rural areas, have to face the wrath of family members and communities when they are from different caste and try to get married.

The Rajasthan high court had directed the state police to take measures to protect these couples in case they face resistance from family members and their communities.

Senior police officers said that the control room officials will ensure to depute staff to receive calls in three shifts and respond to complaints. The complaints will be formally entered into the police records for future reference.

The state police is taking several measures to make it easier for people to file complaints. The FIRs in connection with vehicle thefts and other crimes can now be registered online. The people can also track the progress in police cases online.
