In a major development that will affect lakhs of youths in the state, the police headquarters (PHQ) has decided to postpone the second phase of the Rajasthan police constable recruitment exam till further notice. The exams were to be conducted between March 20 and March 31. The uncertainty prevailed over the exams that have been already conducted.
IG, police headquarters Sanjeev Kumar Narjari said that the decision has been taken keeping in view the cheating cases that came up over the past one week.
“A total of 20 people have been arrested in connection with cheating cases, putting question marks over the confidentiality of the online exam process,” said a police officer.
Narjari said that while an investigation is going on into these cheating cases, the PHQ has decided to postpone the second phase of the police constable recruitment exam.
“Necessary steps are being taken to ensure credibility of the examination process. We would advertise the new exam dates in the near future,” Narjari said.
The decision was taken after a high-level meeting presided over by the DGP Rajasthan at the PHQ on Saturday.
The special operations group (SOG) has arrested nearly 20 members of high-tech cheating gangs in Jaipur over the past one week.
One of the gangs even cloned the fingerprints for a biometric attendance of proxy candidates. Another gang was busted at Saraswati Infotech in Malviya Nagar. The gang members hacked into the computers of an examination center Saraswati Infotech and helped candidates to cheat in the exam.
