Jaipur: Rajasthan Police’s cyber crime branch is asking citizens to use the Centre’s newly launched WhatsApp-based reporting platform — the TELL 14C Chatbot on 9319301930 — to flag any suspicious cyber activity they come across, even when they have not actually lost money to the fraud.
Additional Director General of Police (Cyber Crime), Rajasthan, VK Singh, said the chatbot has been designed by the Ministry of Home Affairs specifically for cases where an attempted cyber fraud was made but the person managed to escape financial loss. People can now share suspect caller numbers, fraudulent links, screenshots, social media handles, chat extracts or any other available information on the WhatsApp number so that technical and legal action can be initiated against the criminal network in time, he said.
Singh clarified that the TELL 14C Chatbot is a reporting platform only for suspicious cyber activity. Anyone who has already suffered a financial loss should instead file a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Portal, he said.
To use the chatbot, users have to begin a chat with 9319301930, choose their preferred language and then enter their name, pincode, state, GPS location and the date of the incident on the Cyber Dost reporting page. Details of the suspicious website, email, URL, UPI handle or other digital trail can be uploaded along with photos or screenshots. After verifying the summary, the report is registered on the 14C portal.
Appealing to the public, Singh said many people manage to escape cyber fraud but never report it to the police or cyber agencies, while sharing such information actually helps investigators reach the criminal network and prevents others from being targeted.
Cyber fraud victims can register their complaints on cybercrime.gov.in or call the national cyber helpline 1930. The state’s cyber helpdesk numbers 9256001930 and 9257510100 are also available.
