Rajasthan: Kirori Lal Meena joins BJP
Kirori Lal Meena reached the BJP’s state office along with his party leaders and supporters and made the announcement of joining the BJP.
Jaipur: Kirodi Lal Meena joined BJP along with three legislators of his political party – National People’s Party – on Saturday. The move has come nearly six months before the state is to go to polls. Kirori Lal Meena, his wife Golma Devi, two other NPP legislators Geeta Varma and Naveen Pilaya accepted the primary membership of the saffron party.
Kirori Lal Meena reached the BJP’s state office along with his party leaders and supporters and announced his return to the saffron party in Rajasthan.
Meena had left BJP in 2008 following his political differences with chief minister Vasundhara Raje. He resigned from the state cabinet supporting Meena community when Gujjars were agitation for reservation in government jobs.
There were speculations that Kirori Lal Meena’s brother Jagmohan Meena will be nominated as one of the BJP candidates for Rajya Sabha; however, an official confirmation was yet to come. His name has been given the final nod by the party high command. The Congress has decided not to field any candidate.
Meena formed NPP in 2013. The party fielded candidates for all the assembly constituencies in the 2013 assembly elections, however, it won only four seats.
