Rajasthan: Infant slips from mother’s lap on mall escalator, dies
The couple was using an escalator to reach the fourth floor of the mall. It has come up during preliminary investigation that Meera lost balance, causing the girl to slip from her arms. The girl first fell on the railing. The mother tried to get hold of her, but couldn’t. She fell to the ground floor and died on the spot.

Jaipur: A 10-month old girl slipped from the arms of her mother on a mall’s escalator in Sriganganagar and fell to the ground from the mall’s fourth floor. The baby died on the spot. The incident took place at CGR Mall in Sriganganagar on Thursday.
One Rahul Valmiki, a resident of Raisinghnagar had gone to Sriganganagar for a medical check up of the girl. His wife, Meera Valmiki, was accompanying him. After the check-up, the couple went to CGR Mall for shopping. The girl was in her mother’s arms.
The couple was using an escalator to reach the fourth floor of the mall. It has come up during preliminary investigation that Meera lost balance, causing the girl to slip from her arms. The girl first fell on the railing. The mother tried to get hold of her, but couldn’t. She fell to the ground floor and died on the spot.
The incident created panic among shoppers and shopkeepers in the mall. They rushed the baby to a nearby hospital where doctors declared them brought dead. A police team also rushed to the spot. The couple refused to take any legal action in the matter.
Police officials said that a physical inspection of the spot was conducted. Further investigation is going on.
