Jaipur: The stay on the arrest of Robert Vadra – brother in law of Congress president Rahul Gandhi – in connection with the Bikaner land scam will continue till July 12. The matter was to come up for hearing on May 17 in Jodhpur bench of Rajasthan high court. The court on Friday fixed July 12 as the next date of hearing in a petition filed by Sky Light Hospitality Limited. The stay on Vadra and his mother will remain till at least the next hearing.

In the last hearing, the Rajasthan high court had directed Vadra and his mother to be present before the Enforcement Directorate for questioning on February 12. Vadra was quizzed by ED officials in Jaipur.

Both the sides asked for more time during the hearing on Friday following which the bench of Justice Vijay Bishnoi fixed July 12 as the next date for hearing. The court said that the interim order regarding the stay on Vadra’s arrest will continue till the next date of hearing.

In 2015, tehsildar of Bikaner registered a complaint about alleged forgery in the allotment of land in the area that borders Pakistan. FIRs were registered with the Rajasthan police. The ED wanted to question Vadra about the operations of a firm — Skylight Hospitality Private Limited — allegedly linked to him, which had purchased land in the area.
