Jaipur:  The Rajasthan government is planning to provide portable oxygen concentrators to Covid-19 patients needing oxygen support in home isolation. The oxygen concentrators will be available at ‘Oxygen Banks’ being set up across the state. People will be able to call up a helpline number to get the concentrator delivered within an hour. A security deposit of Rs 5000 will need to be made. It will be refunded when the benefactor returns the concentrator.

Sources said that the medical and health department has directed all the district collectors to set up ‘Oxygen Banks’ at District Drug Warehouses or DDCs attached to ADM offices in all districts.

The family members of the person who needs oxygen support will call the ‘181’ helpline number or contact the officers posted at the concerned District Drug Warehouse. A doctor’s prescription will be mandatory. The operator at the helpline number will note down the patient’s number and address and forward the information to the concerned ‘Oxygen Bank’ officials. These officials will contact the family members of the patient and provide the concentrator after verifying identity. People can collect the concentrator directly from the ‘Oxygen Bank’ also.

Over 500 oxygen concentrators will be available at the bank being set up in Jaipur. All the divisional headquarters including Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Bharatpur will each have at least 500 concentrators. At district headquarters, the warehouses will have at least 400 concentrators.
