JAIPUR: The Rajasthan state government has initiated the dismissal process for Babulal Katara, a member of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), who was arrested in connection to the Senior Teacher Recruitment-2022 paper leak case.
The proposal to remove Katara has been sent to both the President and the Governor for approval, as he can only be dismissed after receiving the President’s consent.
Katara was arrested on April 18 by the Special Operations Group (SOG) along with his driver Gopal Singh and his nephew Vijay Katara.
All three are currently in judicial custody. On Tuesday, the Jaipur SOG team presented Babulal Katara and Gopal Singh before the ADJ serial number-1 court in Udaipur.
The court has ordered their imprisonment and scheduled the next hearing for May 16.
With the key suspects in custody, the SOG has shifted its focus to interrogating family members and close associates of Babulal Katara. Earlier, the SOG team had arrested his son Dipesh Katara and the son’s friend Gautam Katara from Babulal Katara’s residence in Subhash Nagar, Dungarpur. Dr. Ravi Ghoghara, Babulal Katara’s son-in-law, and friends Bhartendu and Vinay Tabiyar were also questioned.
Dr. Dipesh Katara, an MBBS graduate, is currently not practicing medicine or employed. His friend, Gautam Katara, teaches at the Government Senior Secondary School in Shishod and unsuccessfully ran for the position of student union president at Dungarpur SBP College. He secured a government job in the 2017-18 academic year.
