Jaipur: Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot said that the government would recommend a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Vishnu Dutt Bishnoi suicide case. SHO of Rajgarh police station in Churu Vishnu Dutt had hanged himself. After a WhatsApp chat revealed that the SHO was under stress due to the alleged political pressure, the family members were demanding an impartial probe in the matter. A delegation of Bishnoi community had met the CM. The government will soon write to the central government recommending a CBI probe.
SHO Vishnu Dutt had committed suicide recently by hanging himself at his residential quarters situated on the police station premises. Two suicide notes were recovered in which he didn’t implicate anyone. However, a WhatsApp chat between him and his acquaintance revealed that he was under stress due to ‘dirty politics’. The BJP workers accused a Congress legislator of pressurizing the police officer, causing him to take the extreme step.
The family members and BJP leaders staged a demonstration outside Rajgarh police station demanding a CBI probe. Chief minister Gehlot assured the family members that he would order a probe by any agency of their choice.
A case had been lodged against some senior BJP and BSP leaders for violating COVID-19 lockdown guidelines when they staged a protest outside the police station.
