Rajasthan government to dole out debt waiver certificates to 28 lakh farmers in camps

In accordance with the budget announcement by CM Raje, farmers will get waiver of up to Rs 50,000 on agriculture loans obtained from cooperative banks in the state.

Jaipur: The Rajasthan government will organize special camps to provide farmers with debt waiver certificates. Nearly 28 lakh farmers will benefit from chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s budget announcement in which she announced that the government was waiving off farmers debts up to Rs 50,000.

Cooperative minister Ajay Singh Kilak said that in accordance with the budget announcement by CM Raje, the farmers will get the waiver of up to Rs 50,000 on loans obtained from cooperative banks in the state.

“It is for the first time in the history of Rajasthan that agriculture loans have been waived off on such a large scale,” the minister said.

The benefit would be given to farmers associated with Central Cooperative Banks and Primary Cooperative Land Development Banks.

The farmers will get loan waiver certificates. The camps will be organized soon to provide farmers with these certificates. The Rajasthan government will publish a list of farmers who are to qualify for the waiver. A district level committee will be set up in each district to ensure transparency.
