Jaipur: The Rajasthan government is planning to reopen from August 2. A proposal in this regard got the nod from the state cabinet on Thursday. The education department had submitted the proposal in which it was requested that schools and educational institutions including coaching be allowed to operate for students of all standards as the Covid-19 infection rate has come down in the state.

In the cabinet meeting, the plans for reopening schools in other states were discussed. An expert opinion was also sought. Some ministers were not in the favour of reopening schools for younger children, but it was decided that the education department will issue an SOP in which the schools and educational institutes would be required to follow the Covid-19 guidelines strictly. With this, it was decided that schools should be allowed to reopen for children studying in all standards – from Nursery to Class 12.

“An SOP will be issued separately by the education department about what guidelines schools and educational institutes will need to follow to organize classes for children,” said a senior education department official.

“While the date is not yet final, the education department wants to allow schools to reopen from August 2,” said the officer.

There are only active Covid-19 cases in the state. Twenty-five people tested positive for the virus on Thursday. Of them, 5 were in Jaipur.
