Rajasthan government employees to get increased DA from January, 2018

Nearly 8 lakh Rajasthan government employees and 3.5 lakh pensioners will benefit from the increase. The government will bear a financial burden of Rs 957 crore from the increase in the DA.

Jaipur: A day after the Rajasthan government announced a 2% increase in the DA, the officials said that the employees will be paid the DA from January 1, 2018. Nearly 8 lakh Rajasthan government employees and 3.5 lakh pensioners will benefit from the increase. The government will bear a financial burden of Rs 957 crore from the increase in the DA.

“Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje had approved a proposal regarding the increase in DA on Wednesday. The increase will come into effect from January 1, 2018. The arrears will be deposited in the GPF accounts of the employees. The DA would be added to the salary and deposited in the bank accounts from March 1,” said a senior officer.

Pensioners and the state government employees who joined the service on or after January 1, 2004 will be paid the increased DA in cash.

The finance department had prepared a proposal in this regard and sent the file to chief minister Vasundhara Raje for approval. After the seventh pay commission was implemented, the DA of the government employees has already gone up to 5 percent. Now it will be increased to 7 percent.

The Union government had increased the DA by 2% recently. After the central government’s announcement, the Rajasthan finance department also prepared a proposal for the increase in DA and submitted it to the chief minister. The proposal was approved following which it will be implemented.
