Jaipur: Flats being sold under the Chief Minister Awaas Yojana have got costlier by up to Rs 1 lakh. The government has increased the rates by Rs 220 per square feet. The per square feet rate has been increased to Rs 16,00 for the EWS and LIG flats under CM Awas Yojana. The rate was earlier Rs 1380 square feet.
A senior UDH official said that the government has also revised the Module 3B and 3C rules.
“In a CM Awaas Yojana project, 70% of the total project area can reserved for building and selling flats. Of the total area, 20% will go to EWS, 50% LIG and the remaining to builder flats. At least 5% area will be reserved for open spaces or parks. And 1% will be reserved for shops or commercial establishments,” said the officer.
He added that currently the cost of a 320-square-feet flat under the EWS category is Rs 5 lakh. The new price for the flat of the same size is now about Rs 5.70 lakh. The price of LIG flats with a 450 square feet area has gone up to Rs 8.49 lakh from Rs 7.50 lakh.
The Rajasthan government is lagging behind its target of affordable housing in the state considerably. Only 40,000 affordable homes have been built under the scheme over the past two years even as the target in 2017-18 alone was to construct 6.75 lakh homes.
