Rajasthan exam paper leak mastermind Bhupendra Saran arrested at Bengaluru airport
Bhupendra Saran was carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head.
JAIPUR: Bhupendra Saran, the mastermind behind the senior teacher recruitment exam paper leak, was arrested in a joint operation of Rajasthan police’s special operations group (SOG) and Jodhpur rural police. Bhupendra had been on the run since his name cropped up in the paper leak case. He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head.
SOG officials said that Jodhpur rural SP and some other officials were monitoring his possible movements and some places in Bengaluru were under surveillance for the past 6-7 days.
With the help of CISF, Bengaluru airport, Saran was arrested. Those from SOG and Jodhpur rural police who were part of the police team that captured Saran include police inspector Mohan Poswal, ASI Brijesh Singh, head constable Sachin Bhardwaj, constable Mahaveer Singh (SOG), sub-inspector Lakha Ram, ASI Devaram and constable Bhawani Choudhary.
The authorities had been trying to corner Bhupendra Saran. His house and coaching institute in Jaipiur were bulldozed. His wife and girlfriend were quizzed and arrested. The government also suspended four government employees.
According to sources, Saran was being brought to Udaipur where he would be interrogated. It had come up during the investigation that the gang was involved in not only paper leaks, but fake degree scams. They prepared fake degrees and certificates.
