Rajasthan elections 2018: Congress to release its first list of 150 candidates today

The first list will have the names of about150 candidates, including sitting MLAs, senior leaders and probably some new faces. The last date of filing nominations is November 19.

Jaipur: The Congress is likely to announce its first list of 150 candidates for the Rajasthan assembly elections on Monday.

The Rajasthan election polls are scheduled on December 7 and the results will be announced on December 11.

The screening committee chairperson Kumari Selja, AICC general secretaries Ashok Gehlot and Avinash Pande, Rajasthan unit chief Sachin Pilot and leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi on Sunday finalized the list containing around 140-150 names of candidates. The list will be submitted to the CEC on Monday at 3 pm.

The first list will have the names of about150 candidates, including sitting MLAs, senior leaders and probably some new faces. The last date of filing nominations is November 19.

The first list is likely to have around 15-20% women candidates as per Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s suggestions to Screening Committee.

‘The list will be declared after the CEC meeting on November 12. The names have been finalized after mutual consensus’, said Congress leader Sachin Pilot.

Congress leaders are tightlipped about the names of the nominees. As per sources, party leaders Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot could be the key contenders for the post of chief minister in Rajasthan, if Congress comes into power.

The BJP has already announced its first list of 131 candidate’s late night on Sunday. The list was announced by senior party leader JP Nadda.
