Rajasthan elections 2018: BJP candidate Yunus Khan’s convoy attacked in Tonk

Jaipur: Some unidentified people pelted stones at the convoy of BJP nominee from Tonk constituency Yunus Khan at Lawadar village in Tonk on Wednesday. The front glass of a car in Yunus Khan’s cavalcade was damaged. Yunus Khan was in another car. The convoy was on its way to Rahmandiya village in Tonk, when the incident took place.

Later, Yunus Khan continued his convoy in the town under police protection and also addressed a gathering at Rahmandiya Village.

According to Yunus Khan’s complain registered with the police, he and his supporters completed a public meeting at Lawadar village on Wednesday. Their convoy was on the way to the next public meeting at Rahmandiya village, when some miscreants hurled stones at their cars and fled away from the spot. The attack damaged glasses of two cars. BJP Mandal head Ratan Lal Chopra was sitting in one of those cars. Nobody got hurt.

Police reached the spot after an hour of the incident. The convoy of Yunus Khan had to halt for until the police reached the spot. They left for Rahmandiya Village under police protection.

BJP leaders alleged that this attack was preplanned and aimed at creating disturbance and scare among Khan’s supporters. The opposition is trying to distract the voters.

For the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections, the BJP has fielded senior BJP cabinet minister from Nagaur district Yunus Khan against PCC chief Sachin Pilot in Tonk. An interesting fight will be witnessed in Tonk.

Sitting MLA from Deedwana constituency of Nagaur district, Yunus Khan is the only Muslim Candidate fielded by the BJP party in the Rajasthan polls 2018.
