Jaipur: The people in Rajasthan have to dial 100 to report crime and emergency situations, but soon all the district police control rooms in the state will have a dedicated WhatsApp helpline number. The people can share information about crimes, criminals and photos and videos to report an incident. The police headquarters (PHQ) has directed the district SPs to introduce police control room WhatsApp helpline numbers in their respective district.

“Some district police control rooms already have WhatsApp helpline numbers. Those which don’t have been asked to introduce one with immediate effect. The control rooms which have the helpline number have been asked to dedicate resources to it so that it functions properly,” said ADG, crime BL Soni.

He added that the people need to share visuals such as videos and photos when they want to report some pertinent information to the control room. The WhatsApp helpline number will make it extremely easy. The district police control rooms will verify the information that they receive on these numbers and then respond accordingly.

The people can share the following information through the WhatsApp helpline:

  • Liquor shops selling liquor after 8 pm
  • Illegal storage or sale of liquor
  • Illegal hookah bars
  • Any crime against women, children or elderly people
  • Whereabouts of a wanted criminal
  • Any incident which requires immediate police attention
