JAIPUR: Rajasthan Congress is all set to establish its new state headquarters in Jaipur, reflecting a modern and corporate-style approach. The planned construction will take place in the vicinity of the new City Park along the Dravyavati riverfront in Mansarovar. A plot measuring 6,000 square yards has been earmarked for the project.
The ceremonial foundation stone will be laid by President Mallikarjun Kharge and former President Rahul Gandhi. The initial foundation stone event, initially scheduled for August 23, had been postponed due to scheduling conflicts involving the prominent leaders.
Efforts are now underway to host a fresh event for Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, with an anticipated rally in Jaipur. This ambitious project seeks to not only mark the initiation of the election campaign but also to lay the foundation stone even before the assembly election code of conduct takes effect.
The prospective headquarters is designed to emulate modern corporate offices, replete with contemporary amenities. The estimated cost of the project will be Rs 80 crore. Each floor will house small and large conference halls.
The premises will include conveniences such as a cafeteria, gym, and library, along with dedicated parking. Overseeing this visionary project are CM Ashok Gehlot, State President Govind Singh Dotasara, and UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal.
The new headquarters will house offices for various Congress organizations, providing dedicated spaces for each unit, from the Youth Congress to the Mahila Congress. The party’s history will be celebrated with the creation of a mini museum within the new headquarters.
The current Congress headquarters near Chandpole in the city is cramped and offers inadequate space. The Seva Dal, Youth Congress, and NSUI offices, previously operating from a government bungalow in Bani Park, have been shifted to new premises New PCC Office on the hospital road.
Congress has formed a committee led by UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal to streamline its properties, lands, and offices. A comprehensive audit of Congress assets across all districts, including the capital Jaipur, resulted in a report that detailed the current state of affairs.
For districts where rented spaces currently host Congress offices, the party has resolved to secure its own plots and construct its own offices. This move aims to centralize the party’s presence and operations. All newly erected structures will fall under the umbrella of the AICC trust.
