Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot tests positive for Covid-19

Jaipur: Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot has tested positive for Covid-19. In a tweet, he said that he was most asymptomatic. He also requested those who came in contact with him in the past few days to get themselves tested. Gehlot was infected with coronavirus during the second wave of Covid-19 also.

Chief minister is fully vaccinated, having received both the doses. Earlier, his son, Vaibhav Gehlot, had also tested positive.

“I had myself tested for Covid-19 today (Thursday) evening and it came out positive. The symptoms are very mild and I have no any other problems. Those who have come in contact with me today should isolate themselves and had themselves tested,” Gehlot tweeted. Earlier in the afternoon, Gehlot had addressed a press conference at the State Congress Committee office.

As many as 1430 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Jaipur on Thursday. According to the medical and health department, what has come as a great relief during this difficult time is the fact that over 13.93 lakh children between the age of 15 and 18 years have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the past six days.

Meanwhile, the Investment Summit Rajasthan has been postponed due to the surge in Covid-19 cases. The summit was to be held at JECC Convention Center in Sitapura on January 24-25. Many businessmen were to visit the summit from all over the country and abroad. The new dates will be announced only after the situation of Covid-19 improves, sources said.
