Rajasthan chief minister Raje condemns Rajsamand brutal murder

Jaipur: Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje has condemned the gruesome murder committed in Rajsamand on Wednesday, videos of which went viral on social media. She appreciated the prompt action taken by the police and directed that the criminal be prosecuted in the shortest possible time.
She stated, “This is a deplorable act which needs to be condemned in strongest possible terms”.
Earlier, on Thursday afternoon, Director General of Police OP Galhotra held a press conference to share with the media that the alleged perpetrator has been taken into custody. A special investigation team, constituted for the purpose under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Rajsamand, nabbed the alleged criminal in less than 24 hours of the videos being posted. Investigations are underway.
The DGP further stated that the police would take all necessary steps to ensure that the atmosphere of peace and tranquility prevailing in Rajasthan was not disturbed.
In an alleged confession before the media, the accused Shambhu Lal Raiger said that the victim, Afrazul alias Bhuttu, had eloped with a woman from his neighborhood and Shambhu helped her family members trace her and bring her home.
“Afrazul had a grudge against me for this and threatened to kill my entire family. I acted first and killed him,” said Shambhu.
The police officers however denied having knowledge any such incident.
The man who was shooting the video of the brutal murder was the accused man’s nephew, according to the preliminary investigation.
