Jaipur: The by-elections for Mandwa and Khnivsar assembly constituencies of Rajasthan are round the corner. After releasing the list of candidates, the Congress party on Thursday announced the names of the campaigners. Going by the list of campaigners, Gandhi family members – Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi – will apparently stay away from campaigning in the state

Rameshwar Dudi who hogged headlines by taking on chief minister Ashok Gehlot in the matter of RCA elections 2019 has been named as a campaigner. There are a total of 40 campaigners.

Among the national level party leaders, the name of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is also included in the list of star campaigners. However, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former President Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi are missing from this list.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Deputy CM Sachin Pilot are the obvious inclusions in the list. Others include state in-charge Avinash Pandey.

Rita Choudhary is the Congress candidate to contest by-election to the Mandawa constituency of Rajasthan, scheduled on October 21. She will fight against Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sushila Seegda, a former Congress leader who joined the BJP.

For the Khinvsar seat in Nagaur, the Congress has nominated Harendra Mirdha against Narayan Beniwal of the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP), the alliance partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state. Narayan Beniwal is brother of Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal.
