Rajendra Rathore likely to be new Leader of Opposition, meeting in Jaipur tomorrow
Rajendra Rathore has emerged as a strong contender for the position.
JAIPUR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan is set to announce its new Leader of Opposition after the former leader, Gulabchand Kataria, was appointed as the governor of Assam.
The party has called for a meeting of the Legislature Party on April 2 to elect the new Leader of the Opposition.
Rajendra Rathore has emerged as a strong contender for the position, especially after a tweet by the newly appointed state president, Chandra Prakash Joshi, referred to him as the Leader of the Opposition.
Despite the tweet being deleted shortly after, it has sparked discussions and speculations about Rathore being the chosen one.
The BJP recently had a meeting to discuss organizational changes in Rajasthan, where the Leader of the Opposition position was also discussed. If Rathore is appointed, the party will also appoint an MLA as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition. The party is keen on maintaining caste equations in the election year while adjusting its top leaders.
On Friday, a meeting was held at Seva Bharati Bhawan which was attended by several BJP leaders, including National Organization General Secretary BL Santosh, Rajasthan in-charge Arun Singh, State President CP Joshi, Organization General Secretary Chandrashekhar, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh regional campaigner Nimbaram, and Jaipur province campaigner Babulal.
During the meeting, the topic of discussion was organizational changes in Rajasthan and the selection of the Leader of the Opposition.
After the meeting at Seva Bharati Bhawan, State President CP Joshi went to meet Rajendra Rathore at his residence in Jaipur. They discussed organizational functions, and Joshi took a photo with Rathore, which he then posted on Twitter.
The tweet stated that Joshi met with Rajendra Rathore, the Leader of the Opposition, at his residence in Jaipur, and discussed the party’s organizational functions. This tweet gained a lot of attention and caused discussions within the political circles about the potential selection of Rathore as the new Leader of the Opposition.
