Ajmer: The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad has arrested two Nepali nationals on charges of international drug trafficking and recovered 2 kg 65 grams of charas valued at approximately Rs 1 crore in the international market, officials said.

The accused have been identified as Khem Kumar (40), son of Bhiru Saru, a resident of Mangalapur in Nepal’s Rupandehi district, and Ajay Rana (32), son of Mehman, a resident of Palpa district in Nepal. They were intercepted in the Ghooghra Ghati area near MDS University in Ajmer.

According to the ATS, a team led by Police Inspector Nisha Chanwariya and Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Rafiq had received an input that international traffickers were transporting a large consignment of charas from Nepal to Pushkar. The accused were placed under technical surveillance and tracked overnight, with coordination from the Ajmer district police, before being apprehended as they reached the delivery point.

Police said the duo allegedly admitted during questioning that they had brought the consignment from Nepal, delivered one part of it in Delhi, and were on their way to supply the remainder in Pushkar. They are also accused of having previously supplied charas in Maharashtra and several other states.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police (ATS, AGTF and ANTF) Dinesh M.N., IG Rajesh Singh, DIG Yogesh Yadav and SP Gyan Chandra Yadav, in coordination with Ajmer SP Harshvardhan Agarwala. A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act at the Civil Lines police station in Ajmer, where Station House Officer Shambhu Singh is conducting further investigation.

The ATS has appealed to the public to share information regarding illegal arms or narcotics on its helpline 0141-2610949 or WhatsApp number 90019-99070, adding that informants’ identities will be kept confidential and that suitable rewards will be given.
